Ethics Statement

Journal of Information Systems and Informatics (JournalISI)

The Journal of Information Systems and Informatics (Journal-SI) is committed to maintaining the integrity, transparency, and accountability of the scholarly record. This Ethics Statement is developed, implemented, and maintained by the Editorial Board of JournalISI and governs all stages of the journal’s editorial and publication process. The ethical policies outlined herein reflect the journal’s internal editorial practices and decision-making workflows. Where appropriate, JournalISI refers to internationally recognized best-practice recommendations, including those issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), as external guidance to support consistent and fair editorial judgments.

1. Editorial Responsibility and Ethical Oversight

The Editor-in-Chief holds primary responsibility for ethical oversight within JournalISI and is supported by the Editorial Board in evaluating and resolving ethical matters. Ethical considerations are assessed at multiple stages of the editorial process, including initial screening, peer review, post-review evaluation, and post-publication monitoring. All ethical decisions are documented internally to ensure transparency, consistency, and accountability.

2. Allegations of Research Misconduct

JournalISI takes allegations of research misconduct seriously, including but not limited to plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, and improper authorship practices. All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening during the initial editorial assessment. JournalISI applies a similarity threshold of no more than 15%, inclusive of template structures and bibliometric references. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold are subject to editorial review and may be returned to authors for clarification, revision, or rejection. When allegations of misconduct arise at any stage, the Editorial Board conducts a structured and impartial evaluation. Where necessary, additional reviewers may be consulted, and authors are given the opportunity to respond before a final editorial decision is made.

3. Authorship and Contributorship

JournalISI recognizes authorship as a reflection of significant intellectual contribution to a scholarly work. All listed authors must have meaningfully contributed to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. During manuscript submission, authors are required to disclose individual contributions through the journal’s submission system. This disclosure supports transparency and accountability and assists editors in resolving potential authorship disputes. Changes to authorship after submission are permitted only with written justification and the explicit consent of all listed authors.

4. Conflicts of Interest

JournalISI requires authors, reviewers, and editors to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the objectivity of the research, review, or editorial decision-making process. Conflicts may include financial interests, institutional affiliations, funding relationships, or personal or professional relationships relevant to the submitted work. Disclosures are collected at the submission stage and reviewed by the Editorial Board to determine their relevance and impact. Failure to disclose relevant conflicts of interest may result in editorial action, including manuscript rejection or post-publication correction.

5. Complaints and Appeals

Journal-ISI provides a transparent and accessible mechanism for submitting complaints and appeals related to editorial decisions or ethical concerns. Complaints and appeals are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the Editorial Board when necessary. All cases are handled objectively, confidentially, and within a reasonable timeframe. The outcome of each case is communicated clearly to the concerned parties.

6. Data Integrity and Reproducibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the data presented in their manuscripts. Research findings must be reported honestly and without fabrication, manipulation, or selective omission of data. The Editorial Board and peer reviewers assess data consistency during the review process. JournalISI reserves the right to request access to underlying data or supporting materials if concerns regarding data validity or reproducibility arise.

7. Ethical Research Involving Humans or Animals

Research involving human participants, personal data, or animal subjects must comply with applicable ethical standards and regulations. Authors are required to confirm that appropriate ethical approvals have been obtained from relevant institutional or regulatory bodies. Statements regarding ethical approval and informed consent must be clearly included in the manuscript where applicable.

8. Intellectual Property and Copyright

JournalISI respects intellectual property rights and requires authors to properly acknowledge and cite all sources used in their work. Upon acceptance, authors agree to the journal’s copyright and licensing terms, under which JournalISI holds the copyright of the published article. This arrangement enables the journal to publish, distribute, and archive the work while ensuring that authors receive full recognition for their intellectual contribution.

9. Post-Publication Corrections and Retractions

JournalISI is committed to preserving the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. When errors, ethical concerns, or integrity issues are identified after publication, the journal may issue corrections, clarifications, expressions of concern, or retractions as appropriate. Such actions are undertaken following careful editorial evaluation and, where applicable, consultation with authors and reviewers.

10. Copy-Editing and Proofreading

All accepted manuscripts undergo copy-editing and proofreading to enhance clarity, coherence, and readability while preserving the author’s original meaning and scholarly intent. Authors are provided with the final edited version of their manuscript for review and approval prior to publication, ensuring collaborative responsibility for the accuracy of the published work.

Commitment to Ethical Publishing

Through the implementation of these policies, JournalISI affirms its commitment to ethical publishing practices and to fostering trust within the scholarly community. This Ethics Statement is reviewed periodically by the Editorial Board to ensure its continued relevance and effectiveness.
